The veterinary technician from the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine and Surgery has technical responsibility for the veterinary care program and specific veterinary study activities. He (she) is a reference in basic animal care included in the program and the specialized techniques in its department. (She) works in close cooperation with all members of his department, study directors, research assistants, coordinators, and technicians.
He must (on her):
- Assessment and monitoring of animal health under the supervision of a veterinarian.
- Conducting medical treatments / procedures and diagnostic tests under veterinary supervision.
- Conducting specific veterinary studies or standard veterinary operating procedures.
Holds a university diploma in one of the following majors:
- Animal health
- Biomedical analysis technology
- Technology inventory and research in biology
- animal production
- Be organized, responsible and dynamic
- Ability to solve problems
